Criminal Defense in International Criminal Justice - Challenges in Data Analysis and Knowledge Management

The situation of criminal defense in war crime cases is highly understudied and requires more attention in criminological research in the future. Against the backdrop of the principle of 'equality of arms' some questions can be raised in regard to the capacity and skills of defense teams to meet the challenges in properly analysing the (mostly electronically available) huge amount of data. The project aims to shed some light on the defense situation and to provide suggestions how to improve the analytic capacities of defense teams.
