3rd European workshop on Computer-Aided Qualitative Research 2010

The 3rd annual European workshop on Computer-Aided Qualitative Research 2010 (Twitter hashtag #CAQR) will be held on the 7 & 8 October 2010 in Lisbon. This international workshop will be co-organised by Lisbon University Institute (ISTCE-IUL). The aim of the workshop is to bring together researchers, practitioners and trainers to discuss the key challenges and opportunities of advancing qualitative research using software.

Workshop format:
To encourage maximum interaction and development of knowledge and ideas during the conference, we have limited the number of participants to a maximum of 50. The workshop format will consist of submitted (reviewed) presentations, invited speeches as well as interactive discussion sessions. As with past events, this workshop will provide excellent opportunities for participants to network with peers.

 

Call for Abstracts/Presentations:
Academics and practitioners are encouraged to submit abstracts including but not limited to the topics listed below:
>Assessing the value and quality of computer-aided qualitative data analysis
>Selecting the right software package for different types of studies
>Comparing major qualitative software tools: strength and shortcomings
>Using software to enhance efficiency of performing qualitative data analysis
>Implications of software choice in terms of their methodology and practical utility
>Analysing multimedia data: exploring new techniques of analysing multimedia using software
>Facilitating research team collaboration through the use of software tools
>Assessing inter-rater reliability issues in collaborative research
>Developing new methods of qualitative data analysis using software
>Developing new techniques for data collection and conversion
>Using computer-aided software tools for mixed methods research
>Utilising computer-aided software to accelerate market research processes
>Applying computer-assisted qualitative data analysis in grounded theory analysis
>How to use qualitative software to perform participatory analysis?
>Commerical packages or open source? evaluating open-source CAQDAS software
>How to demonstrate and report the use of software tools in studies?
>Teaching and learning strategies for computer-aided qualitative research software
>How to train students to use software tools effectively and efficiently

All submissions will be subject to a blind review process.
