It is a great pleasure to invite you to the 11th Annual Conference of the European Society of Criminology "Rethinking Crime and Punishment in Europe". According to the organisers’ view, this topic not only invites us to reflect upon the basic and classical criminological ideas from a contemporary perspective, but also proposes to discuss their current transformation, modification, and new developments. Through keynote speeches by outstanding scholars and many parallel sessions, the Conference presents an overview of the latest developments in criminology, both in theoretical fields and in the areas of application and management. The ESC 2011 will be hosted by Vilnius University, the Law Institute of Lithuania, the Centre for Crime Prevention in Lithuania and the Lithuanian Association of Criminology and will be held in the picturesque, UNESCO World Heritage listed, city of Vilnius in Lithuania from September 21st to September 24th, 2011.
